5/8/2010 Police Arlington Remembrance
On Saturday, May 8th 2010, the Traffic Squad Benevolent Association organized the 2nd annual Police Arlington Remembrance at Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn. Despite the heavy rains that threatened to dampen the day, several hundred people attended, including a substantial contingent of at least three chapters of the Blue Knights Police Motorcycle Club.
Police Commissioner Kelly and PBA President Patrick Lynch joined many ranking members of both the NYPD and NYSP in honoring our fallen brethren from days gone by. Commissioner Kelly made some poignant comments describing the site's history and President Lynch spoke of the sacrifice and bravery that police officers exhibit every day. Monsignor Romano closed the ceremony with a benediction. Commissioner Kelly remained at the memorial for quite some time taking photos and speaking with members of the service as well as civilians who attended the event.
Please see the Photo Albums section to view photos from this very special day. Additional pictures can also be viewed on Photobucket, courtesy of Ian McGowan.
The NYCPBA has also posted an album commemorating the event.
Fraternally,
Joe Wolff
