Draft Riot Remembrance Update
On Thursday, July 15th, 2010, TSBA President Joe Wolff and 1st VP John Valles attended the National Parks Department Draft Riot Remembrance at Federal Hall in lower Manhattan. At noon, a brief description of the riots was presented by a Parks Service Ranger attired in period costume. The invocation was then presented by Traffic Squad Chaplin Monsignor Robert Romanno followed by the reading of the names of the four Metropolitan Police Officers killed during the riot. In addition to civilian visitors, attendees included members of the Marine Corps and Navy Honor Guards. Numerous reeanactors, including the Traffic Squad's own Nick Finelli, from the 47 Precinct dressed in an 1870 Police Uniform. Special mention goes to Lt. Mike Grecco from the NY State Police and TSBA Historian JJ Sullivan who took the time to join us on this most solemn occasion.
Again, many thanks to all who participated, we hope to see you next year.
Fraternally
Joe Wolff
