Where does the time go? Another meeting is upon us, albeit a bit later than we would have liked. Unfortunately, the production of our membership cards was hung up as a result of the Chinese New Year, yes the one in China, the secret is out; our cards and stickers are produced in China. The good news is, partly as a result of the delay will we have been promised additional cards. Chinese proverb says good things come to those who wait, so please be sure to come to our first meeting of 2009, the food and beverages at this meeting will be better than ever and we will have plenty of membership cards for those who renew their membership if you have not already done so. Additionally, all paid members will receive 2 cards and 2 stickers this year with their renewals.
Enclosed find one 2009 Scholarship Application, unfortunately as a result of a number of multiple applications being submitted as well as more than a few application being submitted in error last year (member or child not actually eligible) we ask that you enclose a $ 5.00 application fee. We hope that this small fee will encourage applicants to read the application criteria more carefully and save our scholarship board the time of sorting through applications that are not qualified. The good news is that our scholarship fund is stronger than ever thanks to the work of our Scholarship Chairman Mr. Elliot J. Tamir. In fact it is highly likely that Mr. Tamir’s work will provide us with an additional scholarship award this year.
Finally I would like to remind you to please print clearly when preparing membership and scholarship applications, we spend allot of time correcting information and trying to figure out why mail is returned. If you know someone who has not been receiving their mailings please have them contact us.
